Gratitude

It's a sort of shock, unexpected
But wholeheartedly accepted
A realization, once settled comfortably
Fills a glowing, growing need
To be acknowledged, understood
This warmth that sometimes leads to guilt
Or relief, And sometimes forgotten quickly
But when communicated can fulfill
Or embarrass. Sometimes it sinks in
And is known only subconsciously
Shining through smiles with unknown purpose
